Rutgers Residential Honors College

On August 27, 2015, Rutgers Honors College Class of 2019 moved in to a brand new residential hall. These exceptional incoming students from across New Jersey and beyond are enjoying a unique living/learning environment specifically designed for intensive small group study, faculty mentoring and a wide range of specialized cultural and social activities across all disciplines.

Rising above the Raritan River on the historic College Avenue Campus, the Honors College combines residences for first-year students with the advising and administrative offices of the College, apartments for live-in faculty fellows, high-tech seminar rooms, and special lounges and study areas throughout the building. There are small reading nooks, group study tables, a café with a fireplace and coffee bar, a central grass courtyard with walkways and loose furniture, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the Raritan River.

The new Honors College lies at the core of the Rutgers’ mission to bring the highest achieving students from across the university into one innovative community.Devco’s development of this distinctive facility proved to be an extraordinary recruitment tool for Rutgers this past year: the inaugural class for the residential honors program has SAT scores that rank in the top 2% nationwide, with 90% of the students ranking in the top 10% of their high school classes. The incoming class is also the most diverse of any in the Big Ten Conference.

Rutgers Honors College is advancing the university’s competitive position, leveling the playing field with other universities within the prestigious Association of American Universities and the Big Ten Conference by attracting “the best and the brightest” to Rutgers, and in the long-term, strengthening New Jersey’s workforce.
